FYI '/' is the correct separator on Unix based systems such as Linux (and inherently www addresses for example). '\' is somewhat modern in comparison having only become popular with DOS...

If the referenced article was also referring to Linux TF2 for example, it would be perfectly valid.

Actually, if you use cmd.exe, you can use / instead of \ when changing directory using cd, so

cd steam/steamapps/itzkin/team fortress 2/

should work.
